The TX4 complies with the latest European Directive for End of Life Vehicles (ELVs) (2000/53/EC).
At the end of the taxi's life, the disposal, recovery and recyclability can be carried out with the minimum impact on our environment.
Through innovative design and ongoing product improvement, The London Taxi Company has reduced the use of hazardous substances to levels lower than those demanded by new European Legislation and the recyclability targets which came into force in 2006 are comfortably met.
A number of components in our vehicles are already produced from recycled material and The London Taxi Company's policy of promoting increased use of these materials will ensure the impact of our vehicles on the environment will be reduced on an ongoing basis.
To facilitate disposal in an environmentally friendly manner The London Taxi Company has partnered with Autogreen Ltd.
Autogreen, in its role as the service provider for The London Taxi Company end of life taxis, will provide a contracted network of "take back" and "Authorised Treatment Facilities" (ATFs) throughout the United Kingdom. This process ensures that re-use, recovery and recycling targets are met.
Autogreen will take back, free of charge, any qualifying ELVs that are presented by the last owner or keeper.
A qualifying vehicle is legally defined as follows:
The vehicle must be delivered to a manufacturer/importer appointed free take back facility (in our case, Autogreen Ltd).
